President’s Transportation Awards

The AASHTO President’s Transportation Awards honor individuals or teams at state departments of transportation that have performed exemplary service during the year, furthering the transportation activities of member departments and the work that has made their communities better for all who live and visit there.

New This Year:

In an effort to better capture the wide range of work in which state DOT employees are involved and making incredible impacts, there are no set categories for the President’s Transportation Awards this year. Instead, AASHTO will accept nominations for people or teams that align with AASHTO’s vision, mission, and goals/objectives as outlined in the 2021-2026 AASHTO Strategic Plan.

AASHTO Vision: Providing improved quality of life through leadership in transportation

AASHTO Mission: Supporting state DOTs to connect America with the transportation system of today and tomorrow

Nominations should be submitted by state DOT chief executive officers (secretary, commissioner, director), or by the chairs of AASHTO committees or councils. Nominees will be measured by how closely their work aligns with the current AASHTO Strategic Plan. Successful nominations will best showcase the individuals or teams and how they lived the AASHTO mission, vision, or goals/objectives outlined in that strategic plan. Only state DOT employees are eligible to win a President’s Transportation Award.

States may submit up to 5 nominations.

Please note that explicit categories do not exist. Multiple nominations dealing with the same subject matter (i.e. the objective of “advancing a safe, multimodal transportation system” or “improving asset performance”) could be named winners.

Nominations will be sought from XXXX through XXXX. Each nomination must be entered in AASHTO’s online portal.
